Keepin’ kids cavity-free and makin’ toothbrush-time tantrums disappear!
These sugar-free candies have been reformulated with erythritol instead of xylitol (less GI upset and no risk of harm if accidentally ingested by pets, namely dogs). I like them because they’re chewy so you get some mechanical cleansing of plaque and food debris. Erythritol has some limited studies (nowhere near the amount that xylitol has) showing some promise regarding dental benefits like xylitol. If you can afford to add them, they can be a fun addition to your routine that increases salivary flow and thus helps neutralize pH after snacks or before bedtime. If there end up being benefits re: reduced bacterial virulence and transmissibility as with xylitol, all the better.
*I did my own tests at home regarding pH change of saliva due to their ingredient citric acid, and found that the pH of my mouth remained neutral.
***April 2023 update – they recently changed the formulation so the texture/taste of these is now more like that of saltwater taffy. I don’t like it as much, but many people do!
If you’re looking for an alternative to their lollipops (which I found to be too acidic) try CariFree’s Lollis here: https://carifree.com/product/lollies/?ref=33909
